Unarmed Security Officer

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

POSITION SUMMARY

 

We are seeking full-time and part-time unarmed security officers to provide routine patrol and general security services for clients and the general public at various locations in the Commonwealth of Virginia. 

 

PAY TRANSPARENCY/COMPENSATION

 

Hourly Rate: $22/hour for unarmed security officers

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Must have a current Unarmed Security Officer/Courier registration issued by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS)

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record

  • Must successfully pass criminal, credit, and driving records check

  • Must write and speak clearly and effectively in English

  • Must be computer literate and familiar with essential computer software and web applications such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Gmail, etc. 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Current Adult and Child First Aid, CPR, and AED certification

  • Current Opioid Overdose and Naloxone (NARCAN) training - DARK EMBER will provide training free of charge if the successful candidate is not currently trained

  • Six months or more of related security experience

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

Work may be indoors, outdoors during inclement weather, on foot, inside a vehicle, inside a booth, and subject to frequent interruptions.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

DARK EMBER requires that all officers wear multi-threat level IIIA body armor weighing up to 8 lbs. for the entire shift tour except during designated break times or otherwise approved by a supervisor of appropriate authority. Officers may be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 lbs. The position requires intermittent standing, walking, and sitting for prolonged periods throughout the workday. Officers may be required to climb eight or more flights of stairs. This position also may require an officer to run for short periods and distances and respond to emergencies.
