Advanced Response Security Officer™

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

POSITION SUMMARY

 

We are seeking full-time and part-time security officers to provide advanced high-consequence patrol and security services for clients and the general public at various locations in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Officers who meet all the requirements established by DARK EMBER will be eligible for the Advanced Response Security Officer (ASRO)™ certification, ASRO outer-vest carrier badge, and ASRO digital badge.

 

PAY TRANSPARENCY/COMPENSATION

 

Hourly Rate: $45+/hour for certified armed Advanced Response Security Officers (ASRO)™. Pay is variable depending on experience and the nature of the assignment.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Minimum of 21 years of age

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Must have a current Armed Security Officer registration, Security Officer Basic Handgun (75E) and Patrol Rifle (10E) endorsements issued by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS)

  • Current Adult and Child First Aid, CPR, and AED certification

  • Current Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) Training

  • Handcuff Training (ASP, Larry Smith, law enforcement, military, etc.)

  • OC Spray Certification

  • ASP Baton or Other Expandable Baton Certification (ex. Safariland Monadnock Expandable Baton)

  • Six months of armed security experience

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record

  • Must successfully pass criminal, credit and driving records check

  • Must write and speak clearly and effectively in English

  • Must be computer literate and familiar with essential computer software and web applications such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Gmail, etc. 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Ability to provide your own firearm (except a patrol rifle) and duty gear that complies with DARK EMBER policy and applicable laws, including a Level III retention pistol holster, nickel or black finish handcuffs (ASP handcuffs, Smith & Wesson slot-lock or lever-lock handcuffs are authorized). Officers without duty gear or out-of-policy duty gear will be provided with appropriate duty gear by DARK EMBER. 

  • Advanced Handgun endorsement issued by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS)

  • Axon Taser Certification

  • ASP Tri-fold Restraint training

  • Current Opioid Overdose and Naloxone (NARCAN) training - DARK EMBER will provide training free of charge if the successful candidate is not currently trained

  • Military or sworn law enforcement experience

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

Work may be indoors, outdoors during inclement weather, on foot, inside a vehicle, inside a booth, and subject to frequent interruptions.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Advanced Response Team (ART) Officers are expected to have and maintain a high level of physical readiness. DARK EMBER requires that all officers wear multi-threat level IIIA body armor weighing up to 8 lbs for the entire shift tour except during designated break times or otherwise approved by a supervisor of appropriate authority. Additionally, ART Officers may be required to wear a plate carrier and associated equipment weighing up to 30 lbs, depending on the assignment. Officers may be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 lbs. The position requires intermittent standing, walking, and sitting for prolonged periods throughout the workday. Officers may be required to climb eight or more flights of stairs. This position also may require an officer to run for short periods and distances and respond to emergencies.
